Privacy Policy
Salty Engines LLC ("Salty Engines," "we," "us," or "our") is a Florida-licensed
mobile motor-vehicle repair business operating under FDACS registration
MV110988. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect
about you, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the choices you have. It
applies to saltyengines.com, our
AI chat widget, and any service, SMS, email, or phone interactions you have
with us.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to schedule, perform, and bill mobile auto-repair services:
- Contact information — your name, email address, phone number, and service or billing address, when you submit a contact form, message us through the AI chat widget, call or text our published business numbers, or schedule service.
- Vehicle information — VIN, year, make, model, license plate, mileage, color, primary use (personal or commercial), and details you share about your vehicle's condition or service history.
- Service and payment records — written estimates, authorizations, work orders, invoices, payment method (last four digits only when applicable), and amounts paid.
- Communications — the content of messages you send us by web form, AI chat, SMS, email, or phone, plus timestamps and the channel on which they were received.
- Technical data — IP address, user agent, and basic interaction events, used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics.
2. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Respond to your inquiries and schedule service appointments.
- Prepare written repair estimates and obtain your written authorization before performing repairs, as required by Florida's Motor Vehicle Repair Act (Chapter 559, Part IX, Florida Statutes).
- Notify you about appointment confirmations, technician arrival times, additional repairs that need re-authorization, completion of service, and invoices and payment links.
- Maintain accurate service-history records tied to your vehicle.
- Comply with our legal, regulatory, tax, and recordkeeping obligations.
- Protect our customers, our technicians, and our business from fraud and abuse.
3. SMS messaging program (A2P 10DLC)
We do not share, sell, or rent mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in consent is never shared. This applies regardless of how the consent was collected (web form, AI chat, voice, or in person).
When you provide your phone number on our contact form, in our AI chat widget, or verbally to a Salty Engines representative, you consent to receive service-related SMS from us about the repair you requested. Typical messages include appointment confirmations, technician ETAs, written-estimate notifications and authorization links, completion notices, and invoice and payment links.
Message frequency varies based on the service you requested. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; you can request help by replying HELP. After opting out you will receive a single confirmation message and no further SMS unless you opt back in.
4. How we share information
We share information only with the following categories of recipients, and only as needed:
- Service providers who help us run the business under written agreements that bind them to confidentiality and to use the data only for our purposes (for example: our cloud hosting provider, SMS carrier (Twilio), email delivery provider, parts suppliers, and payment processor).
- Government authorities when required by law, court order, or to comply with the Florida Motor Vehicle Repair Act and FDACS oversight.
- Successor entities in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business, subject to the same privacy commitments.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share customer phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
5. Data retention
We retain customer, vehicle, and service records for as long as you remain a customer and for the period required by Florida law for motor-vehicle repair records (currently a minimum of two years for written estimates and invoices), plus any additional period required for tax and accounting purposes (typically up to seven years). Communications logs are kept for the same retention period to support warranty claims and dispute resolution. After the retention period ends, records are deleted or de-identified.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction — you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct inaccuracies, by emailing eli@saltyengines.com.
- SMS opt-out — reply STOP to any of our SMS messages.
- Email opt-out — service-related emails (estimates, invoices, completion notices) are operational and continue while you are an active customer. We do not send marketing email.
- Deletion — you may request deletion of your records, subject to the retention obligations described above.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), per-user authentication with hashed passwords, role-based access controls, and an audit log of customer-touching changes. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever learn of a breach affecting your information we will notify you in accordance with Florida law.
8. Children
Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be posted at this URL and, where appropriate, notified to you via email or SMS.
